“Welcome Back” Pack for PSN now Available
Now that the PlayStation Store has been restored Sony have released the Welcome Back pack for all PSN account holders who held an account before it went down during April. The Welcome Back pack includes free PS3 games, PSP games, PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Home, Qriocity Music Unlimited, and 3 free Movies. Sony will also be offering a years free identity theft protection insurance policy soon. We decided, as so many of you are finding the Welcome Back pack confusing, to create this post to help you all.
First, lets look in detail at whats available to you:
- If you have a PS3 you can choose two PS3 games from a list of five to have for free, forever. The games will be downloaded to your PS3.
- If you have a PSP you can choose two PSP games from a list of four to have for free, forever. Again, the games will be downloaded to your PSP. This means if you have a PS3 and a PSP you get four free games in total.
- Everyone will receive 30 days of PlayStation Plus for free. If you’re an existing PS+ member then you will receive 60 days of Plus for free.
- Everyone will receive 3 movie rentals from the PlayStation Store for free.
- Qriocity Music Unlimited customers will receive 30 days for free.
- Everyone will receive free PlayStation Home items. Details of which will be made available soon.
- Everyone will receive a free insurance policy (T&C’s apply, more details available soon).
Claiming your two free PS3 games
To claim your two free PS3 games you simply need to go to the PlayStation Store on your PS3 and select the ‘Welcome Back’ image on the main screen or go to the ‘Latest’ tab and select ‘Welcome Back’.
Next you need to select the ‘Welcome Back’ category and then the ‘PlayStation 3 Free Games’ item. You will then need to select ‘Get now’ which will take you back to the games and allow you to have two for free.
Select a game you want for free, download it, return to the free games and select another.
Some people have had some problems doing this. One common problem is the free games disappearing before you have managed to download it. There is a very easy fix for this. All you need to do is go to Account Management > Services List > PlayStation Network Promotions > PlayStation 3 Free Games > Select Games.
Claiming your two free PSP games
The process is pretty much the same as the PS3′s. To claim your two free PSP games you simply need to go to the PlayStation Store on your PSP and select the ‘Latest’ tab and select ‘Welcome Back’.
Next you need to select the ‘Welcome Back’ category and then the ‘PSP Free Games’ item. You will then need to select ‘Get now’ which will take you back to the games and allow you to have two for free.
Select a game you want for free, download it, return to the free games and select another.
If you have any problems such as free games disappearing before you download them follow these steps: Go to Account Management > Services List > PlayStation Network Promotions > PSP Free Games > Select Games.
Claiming your free PlayStation Plus subscription
If you’re an existing PS+ subscriber then 60 days will automatically be added to your subscription. If you are not an existing subscribe then simply open up the PlayStation Store, select the Welcome Back banner, select PlayStation Plus, and enjoy all the free items, discounts, etc.
Claiming your 3 free movie rentals
Everyone, regardless of whether you’re on PS3 or PSP, will receive 3 movie rentals for free. To claim them simply open up the PlayStation Store, select the ‘Movies’ tab, select the ‘Welcome Back’ tab, and download the three movies in the category.
These movies are free to download and are yours for one month. (Note that each movie can only be played within 48 hours of first playback).
30 days free of Qriocity Music Unlimited
All existing subscribers will get 30 days automatically added to their subscription. Nothing else is required.
Claiming your free PlayStation Home items
Sony have not yet released the free PlayStation Home items or details on how you will be able to claim them.
Claiming your free insurance policy
Sony have not yet released the free years ID theft protection insurance policy or details on how you will be able to claim it.

The company optionally shut down all 6 of its manufacturing plants to save the country crucial power and so that its employees could do more important things such as help those in need and look for missing people. It may be wise to donate a little to Japan whilst you enjoy the freebies they have arranged for you.
